Prior to 4.1.5, parsing attacker-controlled JSON through go-jose allows deeply nested arrays or objects to exceed Go's stack limit. The resulting stack overflow crashes the application and permits denial of service in applications that parse untrusted JSON through go-jose. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.5.","state":0,"publishedAt":"2026-10-26T22:16:55.053+00:00","modifiedAt":"2026-10-27T15:08:50.63+00:00","affected":[],"metrics":[{"system":"CVSS 4.0 · security-advisories@github.com · Secondary","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:X/CR:X/IR:X/AR:X/MAV:X/MAC:X/MAT:X/MPR:X/MUI:X/MVC:X/MVI:X/MVA:X/MSC:X/MSI:X/MSA:X/S:X/AU:X/R:X/V:X/RE:X/U:X","score":6.9,"severity":"MEDIUM"}],"references":["https://github.com/go-jose/go-jose/commit/a31af25836222f4c45d366d6e8f9b1049dd9935a","https://github.com/go-jose/go-jose/pull/290","https://github.com/go-jose/go-jose/releases/tag/v4.1.5","https://github.com/go-jose/go-jose/security/advisories/GHSA-vvm8-gf78-28g4"],"sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-116586","license":"NIST NVD usage terms; underlying source attribution retained","enrichment":{"sourceStatus":"Awaiting Analysis","weaknesses":["CWE-674"],"productCriteria":[],"sourceDates":{"published":"2026-10-26T22:16:55.053","lastModified":"2026-10-27T15:08:50.630"},"relatedAdvisories":[],"note":"NVD analysis and CPE criteria are source context, not proof that a package or your environment is affected.
