When importing an image from a URL source, the LXD daemon fails to validate or restrict outbound destination IP addresses, allowing connections to loopback, RFC1918 private ranges, and cloud metadata endpoints. This enables error-based port scanning and unauthorized interaction with internal HTTP services from the daemon's network position.","state":0,"publishedAt":"2026-06-26T17:16:32.43+00:00","modifiedAt":"2026-10-25T17:10:00.197+00:00","affected":[],"metrics":[{"system":"CVSS 3.1 · security@ubuntu.com · Secondary","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5,"severity":"MEDIUM"}],"references":["https://github.com/canonical/lxd/pull/18462","https://github.com/canonical/lxd/security/advisories/GHSA-3gq2-x4qg-p4g6"],"sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-28385","license":"NIST NVD usage terms; underlying source attribution retained","enrichment":{"sourceStatus":"Analyzed","weaknesses":["CWE-918"],"productCriteria":["cpe:2.3:a:canonical:lxd:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"],"sourceDates":{"published":"2026-06-26T17:16:32.430","lastModified":"2026-10-25T17:10:00.197"},"relatedAdvisories":[],"note":"NVD analysis and CPE criteria are source context, not proof that a package or your environment is affected.
