Prior to 2.7.10, Deno's node:child_process implementation provided an escapeShellArg() helper used when callers passed shell: true to spawn / spawnSync / exec and friends. On Windows, the helper failed to quote arguments that contained cmd.exe metacharacters and did not neutralize % (which cmd.exe expands even inside double-quoted strings). An attacker who controlled any portion of an argument passed to such a call could inject arbitrary additional commands into the spawned cmd.exe invocation. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.7.10.","state":0,"publishedAt":"2026-06-23T18:18:03.177+00:00","modifiedAt":"2026-06-26T17:33:10.807+00:00","affected":[],"metrics":[{"system":"CVSS 3.1 · security-advisories@github.com · Secondary","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.1,"severity":"HIGH"},{"system":"CVSS 3.1 · nvd@nist.gov · Primary","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.1,"severity":"HIGH"}],"references":["https://github.com/denoland/deno/security/advisories/GHSA-7xh3-mhg9-jcw8"],"sourceUrl":"https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-49402","license":"NIST NVD usage terms; underlying source attribution retained","enrichment":{"sourceStatus":"Analyzed","weaknesses":["CWE-78"],"productCriteria":["cpe:2.3:a:deno:deno:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","cpe:2.3:o:microsoft:windows:-:*:*:*:*:*:*:*"],"sourceDates":{"published":"2026-06-23T18:18:03.177","lastModified":"2026-06-26T17:33:10.807"},"relatedAdvisories":[],"note":"NVD analysis and CPE criteria are source context, not proof that a package or your environment is affected.
