Prior to 0.71.0, when Trivy scans a Helm chart archive (.tgz), its custom tar unpacker reads each entry with io.ReadAll(tr) and no size limit. An attacker who can place a malicious .tgz file in the scanned path can craft a small compressed archive that decompresses to gigabytes, causing the Trivy process to be killed by the OS OOM killer. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.71.0.","state":0,"publishedAt":"2026-06-25T16:27:33.659+00:00","modifiedAt":"2026-06-25T18:55:50.084+00:00","affected":[{"ecosystem":"Vendor product","name":"trivy","ranges":[],"versions":[],"rawVersionEvidence":"{\n                    \"vendor\": \"aquasecurity\",\n                    \"product\": \"trivy\",\n                    \"versions\": [\n                        {\n                            \"version\": \"< 0.71.0\",\n                            \"status\": \"affected\"\n                        }\n                    ]\n                }"}],"metrics":[{"system":"CVSS 4.0","vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.9,"severity":"MEDIUM"}],"references":["https://github.com/aquasecurity/trivy/security/advisories/GHSA-q3fv-x8vg-qqm4","https://github.com/aquasecurity/trivy/pull/10718"],"sourceUrl":"https://www.cve.org/CVERecord?id=CVE-2026-54448","license":"CVE Program Terms of Use","key":"cve-program:CVE-2026-54448","identifiers":["CVE-2026-54448"]},"retained":false,"historicalAffected":[]}],"coverage":[]}
