"value": "AV:L - setxattr(2)/fsetxattr(2) with system.ntfs_attrib reaches ntfs_setxattr(), ntfs_new_attr_flags(), then ntfs_attr_record_resize(); the causal flag value enters through a local syscall, not a network protocol.\nAC:L - Attacker-created hard links can fill the base record, after which ntfs_resident_attr_resize() and ntfs_attr_record_move_to() can place $DATA in an extent; truncating it empty and toggling compression deterministically triggers the bug without a race or external condition.\nPR:L - xattr_permission() leaves system.* authorization to the filesystem, while ntfs_setxattr() requires CAP_SYS_ADMIN only for reserved $LX* names, not system.ntfs_attrib. An ordinary local user can therefore trigger this on a file they control.\nUI:N - The attacker performs the hard-link, write, truncate, and fsetxattr operations on their own file; exploitation does not require a victim to mount attacker-supplied media or open a file.\nS:U - ntfs_new_attr_flags() corrupts memory within the same host kernel security authority that processes the local syscall; no guest-host, IOMMU, or other scope boundary is crossed.\nC:H - map_mft_record_folio() allocates base and extent records separately, so subtracting the extent attribute pointer from the base record pointer can produce an unbounded memmove length and read beyond the extent into adjacent kernel heap memory.\nI:H - ntfs_attr_record_resize() uses that bogus length to memmove data beyond the separately allocated extent MFT buffer, producing an out-of-bounds heap write capable of corrupting adjacent slab objects and control data.\nA:H - The unrelated-pointer subtraction can underflow to a huge memmove length, causing a kernel fault or oops; a finite overwrite can likewise corrupt the slab and crash the system."
