In 1.3.0 and earlier, ssrfcheck fails to block Server-Side Request Forgery attacks when the target private IP address is encoded as an IPv4-mapped IPv6 address (e.g. http://[::ffff:127.0.0.1]/). The WHATWG URL parser built into Node.js silently normalizes the IPv4 notation inside the brackets to compressed hex form ([::ffff:7f00:1]) before the library\u0027s private-IP regex ever runs. The regex was written to match dot-notation only and therefore never matches any real input — all seven IANA private IPv4 ranges, including the AWS/GCP/Azure metadata address 169.254.169.254, are bypassed. Any application using isSSRFSafeURL() to guard HTTP requests made with user-supplied URLs is fully exposed to SSRF.","datePublished":"May 12, 2026, 5:49:12 PM","dateUpdated":"May 13, 2026, 2:37:49 PM","baseScore":8.2,"baseScoreVersion":"3.1","baseScoreVector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N","references":"https://github.com/felippe-regazio/ssrfcheck/security/advisories/GHSA-j4rj-2jr5-m439\n","aliases":"CVE-2026-43929\nGHSA-j4rj-2jr5-m439\n","assigner":"GitHub_M","epss":0.27,"enisaIdProduct":[{"id":"50425741-55f6-3130-b4a5-00ec242fa688","product":{"name":"ssrfcheck","vendor":{"name":"felippe-regazio"}},"product_version":"≤ 1.3.0"}],"enisaIdVendor":[{"id":"32eb0d64-16fc-319d-ba57-94efbe9dd14d","vendor":{"name":"felippe-regazio"}}],"enisaIdVulnerability":[{"id":"53630225-699b-31fe-b660-27e62d91c098","vulnerability":{"id":"GHSA-j4rj-2jr5-m439","description":"ssrfcheck Vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) and Incomplete List of Disallowed Inputs","datePublished":"May 5, 2026, 8:29:33 PM","dateUpdated":"May 13, 2026, 4:26:31 PM","baseScore":0.0,"references":"https://github.com/felippe-regazio/ssrfcheck/security/advisories/GHSA-j4rj-2jr5-m439\nhttps://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2026-43929\nhttps://github.com/felippe-regazio/ssrfcheck\n","enisa_id":"EUVD-2026-29722\n","aliases":"GHSA-j4rj-2jr5-m439\nCVE-2026-43929\n","epss":0.0,"dataProcessed":"Nov 1, 2026, 2:00:21 AM","vulnerabilityProduct":[],"vulnerabilityVendor":[]}},{"id":"6163457d-1351-3351-b513-c61d5d0707af","vulnerability":{"id":"CVE-2026-43929","description":"ssrfcheck is a library that checks if a string contains a potential SSRF attack.
