From 2.1.59 until 2.1.128, the Claude Code /copy command wrote responses to a hardcoded, predictable path (/tmp/claude/response.md) without UID isolation, randomness, or symlink protection. The file was created world-readable (0644) in a world-traversable directory (0755), allowing any local user to read a privileged user\u0027s Claude response, which could contain secrets or credentials. Additionally, because the path was static and predictable, a local attacker could pre-create the directory and plant a symlink at the expected file path, causing the privileged process to follow the symlink and overwrite an attacker-chosen file with the response text. Exploiting this required a local unprivileged user on the same system and a privileged user to run the /copy command. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.1.128.","datePublished":"Jun 29, 2026, 2:03:14 PM","dateUpdated":"Jun 29, 2026, 3:26:11 PM","baseScore":4.4,"baseScoreVersion":"4.0","baseScoreVector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:A/VC:L/VI:L/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","references":"https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/security/advisories/GHSA-4vp2-6q8c-pvq2\n","aliases":"CVE-2026-46406\nGHSA-4vp2-6q8c-pvq2\n","assigner":"GitHub_M","epss":0.15,"enisaIdProduct":[{"id":"59bd9754-78c3-3e13-ae24-516e374929f9","product":{"name":"claude-code","vendor":{"name":"anthropics"}},"product_version":"2.1.59, \u003c 2.1.128"}],"enisaIdVendor":[{"id":"7cbd27e4-a025-3c56-b21f-0b79c3263c37","vendor":{"name":"anthropics"}}],"enisaIdVulnerability":[{"id":"5a59eee9-4a18-3d3b-a595-b1a42d9ee8b9","vulnerability":{"id":"GHSA-4vp2-6q8c-pvq2","description":"@anthropic-ai/claude-code has an Insecure Temporary File in /copy Command that Enables Response Disclosure and Symlink-Based File Write","datePublished":"Jun 25, 2026, 4:53:00 PM","dateUpdated":"Jun 25, 2026, 4:53:00 PM","baseScore":0.0,"references":"https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/security/advisories/GHSA-4vp2-6q8c-pvq2\nhttps://github.com/anthropics/claude-code\n","enisa_id":"EUVD-2026-40116\n","aliases":"CVE-2026-46406\nGHSA-4vp2-6q8c-pvq2\n","epss":0.0,"dataProcessed":"Nov 1, 2026, 2:01:46 AM","vulnerabilityProduct":[],"vulnerabilityVendor":[]}},{"id":"ef60f654-0687-326c-97e2-3cc7a30e4cd4","vulnerability":{"id":"CVE-2026-46406","description":"Claude Code is an agentic coding tool.
