With Cache Components enabled (cacheComponents: true), a \u0027use cache\u0027 function that calls another \u0027use cache\u0027 function that reads a root param can be keyed incorrectly when the inner call is served from an existing entry: the enclosing function\u0027s cache key then omits that root param. The enclosing entry is written once and reused for all root param values, so a response for one root param value can serve content produced for a different value — whether the page is prerendered at build time or at runtime, or rendered dynamically. Shared cache headers let downstream caches redistribute the content further.\n\nWhat values are leaked cannot be attacker controlled. Which value\u0027s content is served depends only on which invocation wrote the entry first.\n\nThis has been patched in 16.3.8.","datePublished":"Oct 1, 2026, 2:50:27 PM","dateUpdated":"Oct 1, 2026, 4:09:53 PM","baseScore":6.3,"baseScoreVersion":"4.0","baseScoreVector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","references":"https://github.com/vercel/next.js/security/advisories/GHSA-h694-7cp9-m8p3\nhttps://github.com/vercel/next.js/releases/tag/v16.3.8\n","aliases":"CVE-2026-103004\nGHSA-h694-7cp9-m8p3\n","assigner":"GitHub_M","epss":0.25,"enisaIdProduct":[{"id":"25369e2f-0c7d-3c97-8c06-f31441e235e8","product":{"name":"next.js","vendor":{"name":"vercel"}},"product_version":"\u003c 16.3.8"}],"enisaIdVendor":[{"id":"23a56b88-85cf-3666-a7f8-ee1b9e13676c","vendor":{"name":"vercel"}}],"enisaIdVulnerability":[{"id":"2b745e05-b89d-3dab-b91b-a81749adcb9d","vulnerability":{"id":"CVE-2026-103004","description":"Next.js versions from 16.3.0 to 16.3.7 warm `use cache` handlers using `next/root-params` and can leak their return value to pages with different root params.
