Windows Components › Event Log Service › Security
Control the location of the log file
Supported on At least Windows Vista
What it does
This policy setting controls the location of the log file. The location of the file must be writable by the Event Log service and should only be accessible to administrators. If you enable this policy setting, the Event Log uses the path specified in this policy setting. If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, the Event Log uses the folder %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\winevt\Logs.
What it writes
- Hive
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Registry key
Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\EventLog\Security
Why it needs changes for Intune
- Policy references a Windows supportedOn definition.

These deployment candidates come from the ADMX template; they are separate from the native CSP mapping above.
- The OMA-URI is an inferred ADMX-backed Policy CSP candidate derived from the source ADMX file name and policy name.
- Some Microsoft policies use built-in Policy CSP pages whose area names don't match the ADMX file name, so verify the candidate against Microsoft Learn before deployment.
- The generated payload is incomplete because one or more ADMX element values were not supplied: Channel_LogFilePath
