Specify global DNS

ComputerNative Intune settingNCSI_GlobalDns

Supported on At least Windows Server 2016, Windows 10 Version 1709

Shown as of 24H2 · 1.0, 30 Sep 2024. See it in the latest templates.

What it does

This policy setting enables you to specify DNS binding behavior. NCSI by default will restrict DNS lookups to the interface it is currently probing on. If you enable this setting, NCSI will allow the DNS lookups to happen on any interface.

What it writes

Why it needs changes for Intune
  • Policy references a Windows supportedOn definition.

These deployment candidates come from the ADMX template; they are separate from the native CSP mapping above.

  • The OMA-URI is an inferred ADMX-backed Policy CSP candidate derived from the source ADMX file name and policy name.
  • Some Microsoft policies use built-in Policy CSP pages whose area names don't match the ADMX file name, so verify the candidate against Microsoft Learn before deployment.
  • The generated payload is incomplete because one or more ADMX element values were not supplied: NCSI_UseGlobalDns_Checkbox
