Windows Components › Windows Defender SmartScreen › Enhanced Phishing Protection
Notify Unsafe App
Supported on At least Windows 11 Version 22H2
What it does
This policy setting determines whether Enhanced Phishing Protection in Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns your users if they type their work or school passwords in Notepad, Winword, or M365 Office apps like OneNote, Word, Excel, etc. If you enable this policy setting, Enhanced Phishing Protection in Microsoft Defender SmartScreen warns your users if they store their password in text editor apps. If you disable or don’t configure this policy setting, Enhanced Phishing Protection in Microsoft Defender SmartScreen will not warn users if they store their password in text editor apps.

These deployment candidates come from the ADMX template; they are separate from the native CSP mapping above.
- The OMA-URI is an inferred ADMX-backed Policy CSP candidate derived from the source ADMX file name and policy name.
- Some Microsoft policies use built-in Policy CSP pages whose area names don't match the ADMX file name, so verify the candidate against Microsoft Learn before deployment.
