Updated September 1, 2026: We have updated the timeline. Thank you for your patience.

What and why

We're expanding multimodal capture in Microsoft 365 Copilot Notebooks to the Microsoft OneNote app for Android.

This feature helps users capture in-person and on-the-go work in a single session by combining audio transcription, image capture, and typed notes. When the session ends, Microsoft 365 Copilot generates a structured Copilot Page containing insights and captured content, which is saved to the user's selected Copilot Notebook.

This experience is designed for scenarios such as in-person conversations, brainstorming sessions, whiteboard discussions, field work, and personal note-taking. The feature is already available in OneNote for iPhone and iPad and is now expanding to Android devices.

This message is associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 567895.

Rollout schedule

  • Public Preview: Available starting in mid-August 2026
  • General Availability (Worldwide): Beginning in mid-September 2026 (previously late August) and expected to complete in late September 2026 (previously early September)

  • Ask questions
  • Generate documents
  • Create presentations
  • Build mind maps
  • Generate audio overviews
  • Support additional Copilot Notebook experiences
