What the notice says

Microsoft’s text, with source markup removed
What and Why: This is a friendly reminder that Microsoft is retiring Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online. Teams devices use EWS for calendar functionality, and Teams device applications have moved to a supported replacement since February 2026. Devices running an app version older than the minimum supported version released in February 2026 may lose calendar functionality starting October 2026. This notice applies to devices in the following categories that remain under active certification and support: Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, Microsoft Teams phones, and Microsoft Teams panels. We recommend reviewing your device inventory now and updating any devices below the minimum app version before October 2026 to avoid disruption. Rollout Schedule: General Availability: We will begin rolling out in early October 2026 and expect to complete by late April 2027. Impact on Your Organization: Who is affected: Organizations with Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, Microsoft Teams phones, or Microsoft Teams panels. Devices in these categories running an app version below the minimum supported version released in February 2026. Platforms/Services: Microsoft Teams Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android Microsoft Teams phones Microsoft Teams panels Exchange Online calendar functionality used by Teams devices What will happen: EWS will be disabled globally starting October 2026. The calendar of devices running an app version below the minimum listed below may lose functionality and fail to sync. Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android may not sync the room calendar, and one-touch join for scheduled meetings may not be available. Users can still join meetings by entering a meeting ID or joining from a personal device. Microsoft Teams phones may have a compromised Calendar app, and scheduled meetings may not be listed on the device home screen for one-touch join. Calling functionality is not affected. Microsoft Teams panels may not show room availability or upcoming meeting agendas outside the space, and reserving the room from the panel may not work. Action Required/Recommendations: In the Microsoft Teams admin center or Pro Management Portal, go to Teams devices and review the Teams app version reported for your Teams Rooms on Android, Teams phones, and Teams panels. Identify any devices running an app version below the minimum listed below. Update those devices to the minimum app version or later, although we recommend updating to the latest version to ensure maximum reliability before October 2026.
