Static pattern rules fired on keyword co-occurrence of tokens such as 'ping', 'POST', 'GET', 'curl', 'hostname', and 'id' within these files (e.g. extension/dist/*/sidebar.js, src/core/bridge/server.mjs, src/core/egress-policy.mjs, src/core/egress-proxy.mjs, src/core/platform-heartbeat.mjs, src/core/ask/tools.mjs, ui/public/bridge-view.mjs). The file names and surrounding context are consistent with an egress-control proxy, a heartbeat/telemetry channel, and a local bridge/UI — shapes that routinely contain these primitives for legitimate reasons. No specific installer-side secret (env scrape, ~/.aws, ~/.ssh, ~/.npmrc, browser profile, wallet store) is shown being read, and no attacker-controlled destination is named; the matches are tokens co-occurring in large files rather than a traced data-to-destination flow. A separate rule flagged a PATH-related string in src/core/skills.mjs where a '.claude/skills/' path is composed, consistent with an agent discovering skill directories rather than modifying shell PATH persistence. ## Source: ghsa-malware (81bf3d58c914a5ac183d3d53d0dbd113eff4fd5cbc5a4dc3ffb53f233550ad2d) Any computer that has this package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. All secrets and keys stored on that computer should be rotated immediately from a different computer. The package should be removed, but as full control of the computer may have been given to an outside entity, there is no guarantee that removing the package will remove all malicious software resulting from installing it.
