CKEditor: Cross-site scripting (XSS) in the engine package
Collected exploitation and prediction evidence
Risk source coverageCISA KEV is observed exploitation evidence. FIRST EPSS is a dated prediction of exploitation in the next 30 days. Missing scores are unknown. This collector requests predictions only for explicit CVE aliases in the public NuGet archive; Microsoft release views retain their existing prediction scope.
No collected risk observation for these identifiers. This does not establish absence of exploitation or a zero probability.

PublishedCKEditor 5 is a modern JavaScript rich-text editor with an MVC architecture. From 45.0.0 until 47.7.4 and 48.5.1, the engine uses a vulnerable es-toolkit version whose prototype-pollution behavior can be reached while CKEditor processes incoming style attribute values. Crafted editor content can thereby cause unauthorized JavaScript execution in the browser. This issue is fixed in versions 47.7.4 and 48.5.1.

EUVD source date text has no stated timezone and is retained without inventing a UTC instant. Related bulletin membership is not an alias, common cause or applicability claim. A missing vector with a zero score is treated as unrated. Complete vendor/product and underlying source evidence remains in the original JSON.

Published### Impact A Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been discovered in the CKEditor 5 engine. This vulnerability is caused by a prototype pollution issue in the `es-toolkit` library used in the CKEditor 5 codebase. This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized JavaScript code execution when the editor processes incoming `style` attribute values. The underlying issue has been patched by the library maintainers, and the fix has been incorporated into CKEditor 5. ### Patches The problem has been recognized and patched. The fix will be available in version `48.5.1` (and above) and `47.7.4` (LTS). ### For more information Email us at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) if you have any questions or comments about this advisory.
