uutils coreutils mv Arbitrary File Overwrite via Cross-Device TOCTOU Race Condition
Collected exploitation and prediction evidence
Risk source coverageCISA KEV is observed exploitation evidence. FIRST EPSS is a dated prediction of exploitation in the next 30 days. Missing scores are unknown. This collector requests predictions only for explicit CVE aliases in the public NuGet archive; Microsoft release views retain their existing prediction scope.
No collected risk observation for these identifiers. This does not establish absence of exploitation or a zero probability.
cve-program · CVE-2026-35364
PublishedA Time-of-Check to Time-of-Use (TOCTOU) race condition exists in the mv utility of uutils coreutils during cross-device operations. The utility removes the destination path before recreating it through a copy operation. A local attacker with write access to the destination directory can exploit this window to replace the destination with a symbolic link. The subsequent privileged move operation will follow the symlink, allowing the attacker to redirect the write and overwrite an arbitrary target file with contents from the source.

A missing vector with a zero score is treated as unrated. Complete vendor/product and underlying source evidence remains in the original JSON.
